About Julia

Raised in West Allis and educated in Milwaukee, Julia began her academic career at UW Madison and earned a B.S. in Dance Education. She combined marriage, raising a family and teaching modern dance. Julia returned to school, earned a M.S. in Guidance and Counseling from UW Madison and began work as a School Counselor. Her interest in the dynamics of families led her to the UW Madison Stout Marriage and Family Program where she earned an M.S. in the practice of Family Therapy. She then established and administered a Family Therapy Outpatient Clinic with an Inpatient Eating Disorders Program at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She moved from administration to a full-time Family Therapy practice in Minneapolis in 1988. During that time she trained with the founders of Narrative Therapy, Michael White and David Epston. Her expertise as a Narrative Therapist combined with her background of Family Therapy provides a comprehensive approach to guiding clients toward change. It is the foundation for her newly established practice at 122 East Olin Avenue, Suite #250 in Madison, WI. She is available to meet with couples, families and individuals.
