About Julia

Raised in West Allis and educated in Milwaukee, Julia began her academic career at UW Madison and earned a B.S. in Dance Education. She combined marriage, raising a family and teaching modern dance.  Divorce created change and Julia returned to school, earned a M.S. in Guidance and Counseling from UW Madison and began working as a School Counselor.

Her interest in the dynamics of families in change, led her to the UW Madison Stout Marriage and Family Program where she earned an M.S. in the practice of Family Therapy. She then established and administered a Family Therapy Outpatient Clinic with an Inpatient Eating Disorders Program at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She moved from administration to a full-time practice in Minneapolis in 1988.

During that time she trained with the founders of Narrative Therapy, Michael White and David Epston. Her expertise with Narrative  Conversations combined with her Family Therapy background provides a comprehensive approach to guiding people toward change. It is the foundation for her current practice at the Quarry Art Building, 715 Hill St. Suite 240  in Madison, Wisconsin.

She is available to meet with Couples, Families and Individuals.

Licensed in Wisconsin as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
